My Story

I came to the design world through my background in art, craft and design history. My Masters Degree in Fine Arts and teaching in these fields gives me two strong perspectives: the ideas behind design and hands-on practical approaches.

Each project is different and I enjoy the challenges of each no matter what size: whether the project is a new construction, a home or commercial renovation, freshening up a single room or meeting a special design request. My goal is to create a beautiful space, to enhance function and integrate the uniqueness of each space while reflecting the personality and life-style of the owner.

With over 20 years of experience in design, and furniture retail, I have built an extensive network of contractors, specialist tradespeople, craft makers, artists, vendors and suppliers.

I believe, that as an interior designer today, I need to work with integrity and respect for the environment and offer sustainable solutions.

With every project I strive to provide the best in service to fulfill all my clients needs and desires for their home.

My Inspiration

What I find exciting about design now is that scientists are increasingly able to measure the physiological and neuro-scientific benefits of experiencing beauty, and are finding that the physical things we use, the buildings we occupy, and the cities we live in can be designed, not only to reduce stress, but to contribute to our well-being and healing.

A holistic approach to design, which incorporates thinking about all the senses, will increase the healing benefits of any design. Everything from positive smells to the careful introduction of colours, to the introduction and control of natural light, as well as what materials and products are being used should really be considered. Sound is also of critical importance.

I am excited about the scientific studies, which will help clarify the benefits of beautiful design and perhaps provide data that will help refine our design decisions in urban design, architecture, interior design and product design to make our world more beautiful and increasingly healthy.
